If you plan to travel soon, take note that a negative COVID-19 PCR test is required to fly to several countries. Here you will find current information on COVID-19 travel restrictions to several countries (specifically European countries) to help you plan your COVID-19 PCR test and travel itinerary. Please keep in mind that travel restrictions and what is required to fly into any country can change without notice. Please check with the countries you wish to visit embassy websites to get the most accurate, up-to-date COVID-19 PCR test requirements for entry.

What is required to fly to Albania? If you wish to enter Albania, you will be required to show a negative COVID-19 test result less than 72 hours old before your arrival. The negative PCR test result is only necessary if you do not have proof of vaccination. A COVID-19 Rapid Antigen test less than 48 hours old before arrival will also suffice for what is required. If you have evidence that you have recovered from COVID-19 in the last six months will also satisfy entry requirements in Albania.

If you wish to visit Andorra, this will require that you travel through Spain or France to reach Andorra, so please review COVID-19 travel information regarding those countries also when you plan your trip to Andorra. You will need to present a vaccination certificate, proof of a negative PCR test, or lateral flow test result if you wish to stay in Andorra longer than three days. In other words, unless you are just passing through the country, you will need proof that you are not COVID-19 infectious.

When traveling to Austria, you will need one of three documents concerning COVID-19. These three documents are a negative COVID-19 PCR test result less than 72 hours old, proof of past infection, or a vaccine certificate. However, hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, and other places require proof of vaccination or past infection to enter or use their services.

It is still possible to fly to Belarus under certain restrictions. If you have COVID-19 vaccination, you do not need a negative PCR test result. If you are not vaccinated, you will need to show a negative COVID-19 PCR test result less than 72 hours old. You’ll fly to enter Belarus since land travel restrictions are effective.

Belgium uses the European Union Digital COVID Certificate (EUDCC). The EUDCC allows free travel without restrictions in the European Union and the European Economic Area (EEA). Rules for entering Belgium vary depending on your previous country. The best source of information is Belgium’s official website. There you can learn what is required to fly into Belgium.

If you are interested in traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina, you are required to show a COVID-19 PCR test negative result that is less than 48 hours from arrival. Grocery stores, restaurants, cafes, and public places are open. You will need to use a mask in public spaces and public transportation.

Travel to Bulgaria requires either the EUDCC or a negative result from a COVID-19 test less than 72 hours before entry. Please note that restaurants, cafes, the leisure industry, and entertainment are on lockdown or operating at a limited capacity.

The EUDCC is the best way to enter Croatia. EUDCC is available after showing proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 PCR test result. However, this document is not necessarily required to fly to Croatia. Upon arrival in Croatia, you have the option to isolate for ten days or take a COVID-19 PCR test or Rapid Antigen test with a negative result within Croatia.

If you need to know what is required to fly to Cyprus, then here is then your answer. Cyprus, like other EU countries, uses the EUDCC. If you do not have the EUDCC, you need a negative COVID-19 PCR test result is required for entry. The country also uses a “SafePass” system to access public places. You must wear a mask in public spaces.

Travelers to the Czech Republic must have a EUDCC. The certificate is needed to enter the Czech Republic, and not just a negative result from a COVID-19 PCT test will do. Tourists must also complete a Passenger Locator Form and submit it when arriving. The Czech Republic uses a list of countries in five different categories with varying entry requirements. Information on the Czech Republic’s COVID-19 travel restrictions and rules is available on their official website.

Right now, to fly into Denmark, you would need a negative test result from a COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours or a Rapid Antigen test within 48 hours. Denmark also uses the EUCDD system as well for entry. As of February 1st, 2022, domestic measures such as wearing masks in public and presenting a EUDCC to enter restaurants or museums will no longer be the case. It is likely in March that travelers will no longer have to take COVID-19 PCR tests before arrival in Denmark.

The Baltic country of Estonia has some tricky entrance restrictions. The protocol derives from the COVID-19 infection rate in the country you depart en route to Estonia. If the COVID-19 infection rate is higher than 150 cases per 100,000 in the last two weeks in your departure country, a ten-day quarantine is mandatory upon your arrival. In addition, you must have a EUCDD to enter Estonia as it is with several other European countries.

Anyone arriving in Finland from another country must have a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or show proof of full recovery from COVID-19 in the last six months. Finland also uses the EUDCC system to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The Finnish Borderguard conveniently answers any questions about border crossings and requirements via email (rajavartiolaitos@raja.fi).

Visiting France requires a negative test result from either a COVID-19 PCR test or a Rapid Antigen test. If the negative COVID-19 test result is from a Rapid Antigen test, the COVID-19 Rapid Antigen test must be certified by a laboratory. Test results from an NHS lateral flow test kit do not meet the requirements. France participates in the EUDCC system. Travelers from Southern Africa may not currently enter France due to a new variant in the COVID-19 virus.

Different regions in Germany have the authority to set restrictions to meet the spread of COVID-19 in their area. These restrictions can and do change on short notice. Research the latest information on COVID-19 travel or tourism restrictions based on your plans before your trip to ensure all goes well. Since Germany is a member of the EU, they are also a connecting member of the EUDCC system.

People coming into Greece have to take a COVID-19 test on the second and fourth day following their arrival. A negative result from a PCR test, a EUDCC, or some other legitimate proof of vaccination is a must upon arrival in Greece. Travelers from certain countries such as South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Eswatini, Zambia, or Malawi are only allowed entrance to Greece if they have compelling reasons. If allowed entry into the country, these visitors from South African countries must quarantine for a full ten days.
